How Long Did It Take To Get An Official Martin Luther King, Jr. Day?

MLK, Jr. DayAs we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. today, know that only three people have a US national holiday observed in their honor: Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The road to getting Martin Luther King, Jr’s day recognized was a LONG one that took over 15 YEARS (president Ronald Regan signed it into law on Nov. 2, 1983).
It just shows you that, even when it’s not easy, be persistent in following your dreams.
